On October 12-13, 2017, JGK was the logistics provider for an amazing social media drive event hosted by Ford Canada in co-operation with BC Ferries.
Sixteen top social media influencers from Western Canada were treated to a true Canadian West Coast experience as Ford highlighted their 2017 SUV lineup that included SUV’s and sport utility vehicles.
Ford’s SUV lineup included the 2017 Escape, Edge, Explorer, and Flex.
While participants had the opportunity to experience some very cool vehicles, they also had the chance to try some uniquely Canadian experiences that made the event all the more memorable.
The journey began with a welcoming get together at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel. From there, each participant was assigned a specific vehicle and began the drive to the BC Ferries terminal at Horseshoe Bay. Big shout out to George in Group Travel at BC Ferries for ensuring our reservations went off without a hitch!
The ferry departed for Langdale BC where participants gathered and continued their drive up the Sunshine Coast to Smitty’s Oyster House in Gibsons for an oyster shucking lesson and demonstration.
Next stop was Roberts Creek BC with arrival at the Gumboot Restaurant followed by a yoga lesson on the pier. On to the Painted Boat Resort in Madeira Park BC for an SUV leadership talk and photo lesson with award winning and Vancouver raised photographer Jess Findlay.
Cocktails, caviar tasting and s’mores were a highlight of the trip along with a stargazing tour with famed Canadian astronomer Charles Ennis (also President of the Sunshine Coast Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada).
Participants were given some free time to explore on Friday, October 13 before heading back to Langdale to grab the ferry back to Horseshoe Bay and subsequent flights home.
While the beauty of Canada’s West Coast was a highlight of the trip, participants were also impressed with the comfort, features and functionality of the vehicles. Driving in BC often means travelling in all kinds of weather as well as on some very steep roads, so it’s important that your vehicle keep up with a wide variety of challenging conditions.
In terms of quality of experience, Ford and JGK delivered on all counts and the event left a lasting impression that will live on in memories as well as on social media channels!
